Really a dynamics question that I've been wondering for a while - so I'm taking this opportunity since The Instructor is IN. (or at least posting).

Thats all a matter of changing the Cloth Dynamics settings and nothing to FF. So I think it is definitely possible.

This program looks great. But does it do LONG hair. I got characters with very long hair. From the head, obviously, down to the lower back. Can that be done? I've seen many samples but not like this. Thanks.

Hair can be as long as you like, it's entirely up to you, you could even make a Rapunzel with her hair wrapping down a castle tower if the mood takes you

I know it was an ignorant question but I just wanted to know for sure and thanks for the reply.

    FFIV test:

    Hi guys,

sorry to dog this thread up. I have started to use Fiber Factory on my Female Project. Head over to cgtalk to check out my findings ( http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthre...&page=17&pp=15), how have people been getting on with FFIV. Got anything to show?

    Cheers

    What I miss ...

    Questions/suggestions regarding FiberFactory

BinaryArts really created a wonderful fiber/hear generator system with FiberFactory 4 and it comes at a definitely good price as well.

But I also think, that as for a mere mortal like me it is really difficult at the current state to quickly and comfortably getting some decent looking results. Off course the great artists here like proton, T-Light or INFINITE seem to be so advanced that they would have no problem and no learning curve with what tool so ever ...

I am therefore sure that we as Binary Art's customer base would REALLY appreciate if BA could try to work on gathering some detailed, step-by-step, well-organized and illustrated hands-on information/training materials/tutorials and manuals etc. on the following questions!

Off course, BA undoubtedly seems to be heavily busy with programming work, but BA most surely will also have contact to very enthusiastic and gifted people who might be willing and able to provide us all with satisfying tutorials and manuals.
That again would help convince more people to raise their money for a FiberFactory license.

So I would really like to see tutorials on the following:

How to plan/set up the ideal workflow for FF4 on realistic looking human characters
    • Short haired hair-style on skull with both FF ImageFilter
    • Long haired hair-style on skull with both FF ImageFilter as well as the FF Modeler tools
o Applying (color etc.) gradients within hair fibers from root to tip
o Creating variations in colouring of hair strands
    o Bangs etc.
    • Beards and eyebrows
    • Unobtrusive and merely visible fine fluff on skin

How to plan/set up the ideal workflow for FF4 on realistic looking animals
    • Fur
    • Underwool
    • feathers

How to plan/set up the ideal workflow for FF4 on realistic clothing items -> fluff,

And then, I don't want to sound ungrateful, but I'd really see improvements on the following:
Possible urgent corrections/enhancements of FF 4:

    1. Possibility to use layered texture maps (alpha) as well as weight maps to determine placement, density and strength of hair
    2. Implementation of metric units (millimeters, centimeters) as base for fiber length and thickness parameters
    3. Enhancing combing and styling features of FF
    4. Implementing means to define the angle of the fiber roots and fiber directions
    5. Implementing incidental dynamics in FF for Layout and Modeler like a breeze generator for mimicking natural wisp-like effects
    6. Enhancing/Implementing collision detection in all hair nodes
    7. Building a memory indicator in the FF interface for better planning ahead render times/issues etc.
    8. Enhancements for memory consumption and rendering speed of FF
    9. Delivery of valuable presets for most common fiber, fur and hair settings as a base for customers to further tweak and refine.

    Nice-to-have-enhancements:
    • Publishing the current version and build numbers of BA plugins on the BA website
    • Sorry to criticise so harshly, but currently both the BA website and documentation look semi-professional, careless and neglected (the website so-to-speak looks like some private website remaining unchanged from the early 90ies). Both website as well as documentation urgently need a redesign or stylistic workover or dosn’t BinaryArts want to market their products and services?
    • PLEASE BinaryArts make use of better quality renderings and more meaningful images (like e.g. the ones provided by T-Light) for your very own economic sake and marketing purposes. Your client base wants realisticly looking hair effects (creating non-realistic looking hair effects is easily done), thus you can assume that they also would like to see realisticly looking objects, light settings, renderings etc. The dream catcher contributed by T-Light is a really good start, but why does it only show up as start screen? Look at the pictures to be found on your competitors website at Worley.com. And still try to provide even better and more realistic pictures.
    i. I am sure that the BinaryArts customers would be glad to provide them with good portfolio pictures (even when adding copyright remarks or watermarks etc.)
    • Also BinaryArts PLEASE make use of publishing available videos on FF 4 on your website like the one proton is offering here in this thread. Just by watching this video, which really isn’t a tutorial though, I understood much more like by reading through the documentation...

Or even dragging the floor for several meters, or even tens of meters, I assume? Imagine covering an entire floor with looooooong hair!

Proton can you make a simple quick tutorial of how you did this. I am interested to see if this plugin will be a solution for future projects.

Was it easy or a happy accident? Any shadows?

Anybody know when this will be available for Mac? I thought the Universal Binary was supposed to make porting plugins over much easier for developers.

I've always wanted to create a "virtual Rapunzel" myself—or for that matter, several dozens of them, their hair length measured not in feet, but in tens of feet! Imagine artwork of a number of them in a room, the floor almost completely covered with silk!

I wonder can you create braids also? I'd like to make a giant braid...like such as from ear to ear! This would really come in handy with some of my creations—the ultimate in hair length and thickness!
