    Mini Worlds

Hey everyone, it's been a long time since I posted any finished personal work of mine. I'm currently out of work so I spent the last two days putting these images together.

The images are Lightwave and Vue. Be sure to check out the full 2560X1440 render at this link, I think part of what makes these cool is all the little details in the environments so I rendered them pretty large.

Nice work. I did something very similar myself.
I take it you saw the car ads on the Vue showcase pages.

It's a great idea and you have done a lovely job with it.

    Re: Mini Worlds

They are really fun to do. I spent maybe 4 hours on each one.

A few more technical details here. The base geometry for the worlds was created in Lightwave using displacements, I then exported the displaced object and brought it into Vue for all the vegetation. It's kind of a shame that all the displacement detail doesn't show up that well since the base meshes are really very detailed. I suppose it's pretty typical for all the little details in a model to get lost when texturing.

The render times were as follows for the 2560X1440 renders.
    rockworld - 50 minutes
    desert world - 1 hour 30 minutes
    jungle world - 2 hours 50 minutes
    winter world - 5 hours 30 minutes

I didn't try to optimize the render times too much since I'm not planning on animating these.

    Re: Mini Worlds

Thanks guys. Yeah I have all these ideas for mini worlds. mini African safari, mini fall leaves, mini city, mini ocean reef, etc...... Lots of potential for creative ideas.

I don't have the time to create a website and such for it, but you feel free to go ahead.
