    Texture displacement

in the texture editor, Is there anyway to stop a layer set to texture displacement from affecting all the layers above it? ive got a base wood color and ive tried to add some randomness by adding a displacement layer below it, but then i noticed when i tried to add finer details at the top, the displacement layer distorts that as well. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

    Heres what i mean

and heres the order i have the layers stacked.

You should be able to add an alpha layer that only affects the required layer.

    Re: Texture displacement

That is a whole lot of layers there ! I usually use .tga images with alpha channels, they save me the hassle !

Try adding an alpha layer, if it doesn't work try using the .tga image file format with the alpha channel enabled, instead.

For hassle free transparency .tga images you can use Gimp 2.6 ( it's free ), just right click the layer you want to be transparent, click add alpha channel and you can save the image as a .tga (select merge visible layers, if u want only certain layers to save). Get the image into Lightwave and your half-way there !

Hope you manage to solve your problem,
