Character: Yoko tsuno ( and got a problem)

Hi guys and gals

I have just started with this cartoon heroine called Yoko Tsuno , she is pretty much world famous in Europe
I and a friend want to try to model her and the F16-like plane she flies in an adventure of her.( episode 15)
She is an Japanese girl in her 20s.

I have started modeling her already, I dont think the body will be a problem. I have modeled various women before. The problem is the face.In my second attempt now and my model still doesn't look like her.
I could use some pointers on how to improve the likelyness between the model and the drawings.

ref pics of Yoko's face

Any help is welcome

Hey Baroba!
That is one hell of a project. I have done various projects like these and I learned one thing: Reproducing a 2d- painted, or comic- character in 3d is a pretty hard task.
Luckily you have a few good reference- shots already. However most of them are from a slight angle. I would try to get a few more orthographic reference- images, or you could try to draw a character- sheet from the data you have available (take those pics that are most orthographic into PS and align them and maybe do some small perspecitve- corrections).

Now, when comparing your model to the drawings, I see the following differences:
When comparing the front view (the B&W- one in the middle, which is almost frontal), I would say that the lower- jaw- bone of your model is a bit to narrow and the chin is to wide.
The nose is to wide as well. In the drawing it is only half as wide as one eye, in your model it is about the same.
I think the edge- loops and the nose still need a lot of work as well in terms of definition. Your model does not have a real tip of the nose, e.g.
Hope that helps a bit.

Thanks for the help
Did a bit of work on her.
But doesn't look alot better ...
I have make several 2d to 3d convertions before, but this one is alot harder to do.

Got my images lined up right, I think.
But I think her eyes are too deep in her head, and her forehead is shaped like a babies forehead ( curving forward instead of backwards like adults have)

Increased the size of the eyeballs
Made a new jawline, changed the shape of the jaw
Changed the nose
Changed the mouth
Changed the skull shape
changed the polyflow around the chin
changed the area around the eyes

I think I will try some cellshading on her to try to figure out the differences.
