SQ - Traditional art in the past has had a major impact on artists and creation, how do you think digital art will compare in the future? I personally will always advocate traditional studies and feel that working outside of a computer is something that shouldn't be ignored. But I also see the benefits of computer based learning and how the injection of the digital medium has advanced the speed and quality in which artists can create. It can seem like two worlds torn apart simply because the approach to learning is so different. Traditional medium is less forgiving than digital, which is why some artists can be less inclined to take on that challenge. There's a part of me, however, that feels anyone who is truly dedicated to their art needs to suffer a little and that learning from only one source is extremely limiting. Acquiring knowledge from multiple sources can compliment what you may or may not already know, and can make you a more flexible artist.

SQ - Do you ever use live models for the poses or do you use reference images or a wooden mannequin? A little bit of everything. It really just depends on what I'm doing and what resources are available to me. For figure studies I prefer to work from live models but if I'm doing illustration work I'll use photographs, old sketches, 3D references... sometimes none of these. It just depends on how comfortable I am with an initial drawing and if I feel using references will benefit the final image. I've recently purchased one of those full figure anatomy sculpts from freedom-of-teach.com and I have to say it's an absolute godsend, especially for 3D modeling.
