You’ve probably seen Patrick Beaulieu’s work on many website and magazine covers and wondered who he is. Probably best known for his character modeling he is also lead animator at Beenox and has worked on many films such as, “Snakes on a Plane, Racing Stripes, Sharkboy and Lava Girl, and Sin City” to name but a few. Working at Ubisoft as lead animator a while back he also worked on games like, “Rainbow Six Vegas, Surf's Up and Open Season. Last year Mr. Beaulieu attended the International Animation Conference at Univa University in Guadalajara, Mexico and spoke about the principle of animation and gave a speech about animation methods. This year he Will give an animation conference at Singapore in June for CG Overdrive. Mr. Beaulieu’s list of accomplishments also include awards from CGSociety, 3D Total and Animago. Mr. Beaulieu is a talented and successful artist and it was my pleasure to interview him for SpinQuad Entertainment.

SQ – First off, please tell us a little about yourself? My name is Patrick Beaulieu, I’m 26 years old, I am currently working as lead animator at Beenox Activision based in Quebec (Canada). I work in the industry since 7 years now. I’ve worked in publicity, video game, television and film during the last 7 years. Animation is not my only passion in 3D , I like character design. Other than 3D, I’m a father of 2 little girl, Emy and Naelie.

SQ – When and how did you become involved in 3D? I just starter to make 3D without plan or something, computer was a mysterious things before go to school. Make my formation was a guest. I always liked drawing since I was young so when I’ve seen on newspaper than is possible to have a 3D formation for making video game and animation, I just quit my job and starting at this formation.
