Rene Falk Thomasius also known as SAFARI FX here on Spin Squad is a talented 3D artist and Sound artist. A neurolinguistic 3D hacker as he is called Rene speaks about his metaphors and his life with 3D. It was my pleasure to interview him for Spin Quad Entertainment.
SQ – First off, please tell us a little about yourself? I´m a neurolinguistic 3D hacker who likes to move around a lot.
During the last three years I visited three countries in eastern and central europe and spread my knowledge and skills. It was Russia/Moskow, Riga/Latvia and Vienna/Austria. In Moskow I helped to build up an online communication platform (www.cd.ru), in Riga/Lithuania I designed the layout for the breakfast TV (“Ytro”, means “The Morning”), which has viewer numbers about 300 000 every morning.
Since march 2008 I live in Vienna, where I have been working for countless visuals for Braun, Nestlé, Mazda, Szechenyi, Publicis, DO, BMW, Allianz etc.
SQ – When and how did you become involved in 3D? Amongst other things I am a sound artist, who produces my own tracks since 1991. I have 21 official releases on european labels in different styles and different media so far. I began 3D when I was sitting in my studio and my ears were consumed from listening to sounds. I needed to do something else, I didn´t want to be bored and one day a friend showed me Lightwave. That was 1997. Since then I produce sound and 3D...
SQ – Where do you work at the moment and what’s your position there? At the moment I enjoy my holyday here in Vienna. After a couple of months of hard work I now have the occasion to look around in this old, beautiful, honorable city in old europe. Ergo I relax. Along the way I work with Michael Mähring (Austrian Zbrush Artist), meet interesting people in bars and clubs while cogitating about “Shark City”, which is one of my personal projects and which will be finished by the end of the year.
I currently have two job offers in Dubai and London, but there´s also a lot of stuff going on here in Vienna. I want to have all options open as long as possible. Today I meet a lady who manages 5 Satellite TV channels here in Vienna.
